Privacy Policy

Overview

FollowerCleanup (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a follower-tracking service that processes official data export files from social media platforms. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

We are privacy-first by design. We never request your social media passwords, OAuth tokens, or API access. The only social data we hold is what you explicitly upload.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect:

• Your name and email address
• A hashed version of your password (we never store plain-text passwords)
• Account creation date and last sign-in time

Social follower data

When you upload a platform data export, we extract and store the follower/following lists contained in that file. This includes usernames, display names, and timestamps where available. We do not receive any other information from your social accounts.

Usage data

We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used to operate and improve the service, and is not linked to your social follower data.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number or banking details. We receive only a tokenised payment reference and your subscription status.

How we use your information

• To provide the follower-tracking service — storing snapshots and computing diffs
• To send transactional emails (email verification, password reset, receipts)
• To operate, maintain, and improve the service
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your follower data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the service for you.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or follower lists to any third party. We share data only with:

• Infrastructure providers — our database and hosting providers (Neon, Vercel) process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
• Payment processor — Stripe handles payment transactions.
• Email provider — Resend delivers transactional emails.
• Analytics — we use Simple Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-preserving. No personal data is shared.
• Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.

Data retention

We retain your account data and snapshots for as long as your account is active. If you delete a snapshot, it is permanently removed from our database. If you delete your account, all associated data — including every snapshot and follower event — is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your follower snapshots
• Object to certain processing activities

Security

We use industry-standard security measures: HTTPS for all data in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and hashed passwords using bcrypt. We conduct regular security reviews and promptly address vulnerabilities.

No system is completely secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please disclose it responsibly to security@followercleanup.com.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Our analytics provider (Simple Analytics) is cookieless.

Children

FollowerCleanup is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by displaying a notice in the app. Continued use of FollowerCleanup after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
